Quay Words Masterclass with Adrian Cooper of Little Toller Books

  • Exeter Custom House 46 The Quay Exeter, England, EX2 4AN United Kingdom (map)

In this Quay Words Summer masterclass, we are pleased to continue our nature season with a workshop and one-to-one mentoring from Adrian Cooper, the publisher and editorial director of Little Toller Books.

Little Toller was started in 2008 with a singular purpose of reviving forgotten and classic books about nature and rural life in the British Isles, and since then have gone on to publish some of the best contemporary place-based writers in the UK, including Richard Mabey, Horatio Clare, Tim Dee, Charles Kingsnorth, Alexandra Harris, Iain Sinclair, Davina Quinlivan, Fiona Sampson, Louisa Adjoa Parker, Paul Kingsnorth and recent Wainwright Prize winner Dara McAnulty.

The masterclass will be made up of an opening and closing group workshop, sandwiching 15-20 minute one-to-one sessions where Adrian will give feedback on your writing. After booking you will need to email a 1000-2000 word extract or self-contained article that you would like feedback on by Friday 23 July to customhouse@literatureworks.org.uk.

We are offering one bursary place for this course, which is available by application only (to customhouse@literatureworks.org.uk) and will be allocated on a first-come, first served basis. The bursary is awarded on the basis of financial need not writing ability. We can accommodate free tickets for carers or personal assistants if needed. Please email us on customhouse@literatureworks.org.uk after booking to let us know if you would like to book one of these tickets.
